Kingsley Added To Player Of The Year Watch List

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Senior forward Moses Kingsley continues draw national attention as he landed on the preseason watch list for the Lute Olson Award Monday afternoon.

The Lute Olson Award is presented annually to the nation’s top Division I player who has played at least two collegiate seasons. The recipient of the 2017 Lute Olson Award will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com awards banquet on April 31 in Phoenix, Arizona, site of the men’s division I basketball championship.

Kingsley is recognized with his third preseason honor after being named the SEC Preseason Player of the Year and appearing on the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award watch list presented to the nation’s top center.

The Abuja, Nigeria, native posted 16 double-doubles last season, the second-most of any returning high-major player in the country. He finished the 2015-16 regular season as one of five high-major players in the nation averaging at least 16.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game and was one of three players in the country with multiple games of 20 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks.

After posting 76 blocks as a junior to rank second in the SEC, Kingsley enters his senior campaign ranked fifth in program history with 163 career blocks.

Lute Olson won 780 games in 34 seasons, 24 of which were spent at the University of Arizona. During that stretch, he led the Wildcats to 11 Pac-10 Conference titles, 23 consecutive NCAA Tournaments, four Final Four appearances and a National Championship in 1997.

Arkansas opens the season on Friday, Nov. 11, welcoming Summit League favorite Fort Wayne to town for a 7 p.m. tip-off in Bud Walton Arena.
