No. 1 Razorbacks Amass 21 All-Americans

NEW ORLEANS – The Arkansas women’s track field team won its first NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship off the heels of 17 Razorback student-athletes who amassed 21 All-America accolades, announced Monday by the USTFCCCA.

Arkansas’ All-American count was the most of any program in the nation with 13 selected to the first team and eight receiving second team recognition.

Senior Taylor Ellis-Watson led the group collecting two first team honors (400-meter dash, 1,600 relay) and one second team honor (400 relay) for her contributions to the Razorbacks’ historic performance. Ellis-Watson scored 10 points for the team with a runner-up finish in the 400 and as the anchor of the 4-x-400 relay.

Capetown, South Africa, native Dominique Scott also earned two-time first team All-American recognition for gold-medal meriting performances in the 5K and the 10K. Scott’s victory in the 5,000 on the final day of competition clinched the team title for Arkansas.

Other Razorbacks receiving first team recognition include Taliyah Brooks (long jump), Devin Clark (steeplechase), Monisa Dobbins (1,600 relay), Alex Gochenour (heptathlon), Daina Harper (1,600 relay), Jessica Kamilos (steeplechase), Payton Stumbaugh (heptathlon), Brianna Swinton (1,600 relay) and Lexi Weeks (pole vault).

Brooks, Kamilos and Lexi Weeks all placed among the top-three in their respective events with Brooks third in the long jump, Kamilos second in the steeplechase and Lexi Weeks first in the pole vault.

Razorbacks just shy of podium finishes at the national meet were honored as second team All-Americans including: Leigha Brown (heptathlon), Ellis-Watson (400 relay), Harper (400, 400 relay), Kelsey Herman (400 relay), Kiara Parker (400 relay), Stumbaugh (100 hurdles) and Tori Weeks (pole vault).
